David Tipling`s Bird Hide
A couple of weeks ago, I went to North Norfolk to spend a couple of days photographing birds in David Tipling`s woodland bird hide. David is a fellow Olympus Mentor, and a professional wildlife photographer and author.
He has a hide set up in his private wood, and you can hire it for the day. Because he has created a regular feeding station over a number of years, you get a good range of birds coming in to the bird feeders, or to bathe in the `pond`. Its a low level hide , so you are shooting at almost ground level, which gives a really good perspective from which to shoot. The hide will accommodate three photographers, and you are photographing through Stopsol one way glass, which prevents the birds from seeing any movement you make within the hide. The Stopsol one way glass does not affect the picture quality, as I hope these images demonstrate.
All pictures taken on either the E-M1X with the 300mm F4 lens, or the OMD-E M1 MkII and the 40-150 F2.8 lens, - some with the MC14 converter attached. ISO ranged from 400 ISO to 1600 ISO depending on how the lighting changed throughout the day. All images taken on a tripod.
